Congratulations on becoming a ShelterBox HERO club.
In the past year alone, with the support of Rotary Clubs like yours, ShelterBox has provided emergency shelter and essential supplies to 325,000 people in 14 countries across 22 projects.
Following the devastating earthquake in Türkiye, Rotary enhanced ShelterBox's ability to respond to this complex emergency. Rotary's extensive network allowed ShelterBox to gain necessary permissions and operate efficiently in affected areas, ensuring that pre-positioned aid and locally procured aid items were rapidly mobilized to those in need. Together, we provided 2,500 tents, offering shelter and stability, 6,000 mattresses, 8,000 blankets, 1,000 solar lights, and 2,000 hygiene kits to support the health and well-being of women and children.
Rotary also played a crucial role in facilitating our response in Morocco following the 6.8-magnitude earthquake. From assisting ShelterBox in establishing vital connections to distributing life-saving aid and aiding in constructing emergency shelters, Rotary enabled us to reach the most vulnerable people in Morocco. Together, we supported 22 village communities in the high Atlas mountains, distributing over 1,200 tents and providing over 10,000 blankets. About HERO club recognition: Gifts from clubs, individuals identifying as club members, or anyone recognizing your club all count toward ShelterBox HERO club recognition. A Bronze HERO recognition level is achieved at $1,000, Silver at $3,000, Gold at $5,000 and Platinum at $10,000 in total giving within the Rotary year. A club can level up throughout the Rotary Year. Rotaract, Interact, RYE, and Districts are eligible for HERO awards.
